REVEALED – The deadline for moving into a home before Christmas
As the winter months approach many speculative home buyers might be wondering how long they can leave it before getting their property on the market to be in with the possibility of moving into your brand new home before Christmas 2021.
According to EstateAgentToday the Homeowners’ Alliance has stated that vendors must list their property by October 20th at the latest to be able to move into their new property by Christmas.
The information comes from the group’s agency comparison service ‘estateagent4me’, which suggest that properties listed in October typically take an average of 64 days to sell. These times are roughly normal – since 2015 according to the HOA properties in the UK stay on the market on average from anywhere between 58 to 73 days.
Despite the pandemic resulting in uncertainty throughout most industries, the data showcases that the average length of time to sell a property has thankfully remained relatively constant over the past six years.
Homeowners Alliance chief executive Paula Higgins stated : “2021 has been a chaotic year for buying and selling homes. The rush to buy before the end of the stamp duty holiday deadline in June congested and slowed the home buying process.
“Thankfully, this autumn will see things return to normal for home movers. Looking back on six years of data, we can see that if you want to sell by Christmas, then you need to get on and do so before 20 October.“
